I Lift My Hands
w: Carl Hardeman, m: Paul Springer
1. I am not a-shamed to come wor-ship Thee,
Glo-ry and praise sing op-en-ly,
I lift my hands to your most ho-ly place,
Hum-bling self, seek-ing thy face.
[Chorus:] I lift my hands, rise from my place,
Let grate-ful tears, stream down my face.
I'm not a-shamed, I'll praise and stand,
Glo-ry to God, I lift my hands.
2. I want You to know how deep-ly I care,
Lift ho-ly hands in grate-ful prayer,
I know that oth-ers may not un-der-stand,
But I'll still lift up my hands.
3. I now lift my hands to Je-sus this day,
Sing with my heart the words I say.
I lift my hands no mat-ter what the cost.
Like His hands, up-on the cross.
4. No long-er a-fraid to do as you say,
Lift-ing my hands, wor-ship and pray,
Thy Spir-it's strength en-a-bles me to stand,
Help me Lord, lift up my hands.

NOTES:The third song Carl brought to me. The bible talks
about several positions while worshipping and praying. On your
knees, sitting, standing, lifting hands and face upward,
falling down to the ground, etc. This song talks about why
and how we can praise and glorify God lifting our hands,
hearts, and voices to God in prayer and singing. Lifting hands
is not a 'requirement', but it is acceptable. I added the 3rd
stanza, about Jesus lifting his hands... on the cross and we
too should lift our cross daily. I tweaked it and set the
chorus to music in Nov. 99 and when Carl finished most of
the words, I finalized it in Jan. 2000.
It is a longer song at about 5:45 mins.
